America is in the worse state it has ever been. As a people we have been sitting on our apathy way to long and hiding our head in the sand. America is floundering and wallowing in its own bad choices. The American dream has turned into a nightmare.
It is time we woke up and stopped living our splintered lives and hiding behind our own special interest groups and as a people form a united front or we will not be the United States of America. I've done my share of thinking on this and I have some questions and a few suggestions.
First and foremost, it is high time we got back to basics back to the foundation this nation was founded on and took America and the situation we find our self in seriously. It is no laughing matter. America is dying a slow and agonizing death.
We need to remember our history and the price we have paid and take a lesson from other lands and peoples that are no more. If we will not learn from the past we are doomed to repeat it.
It is high time Congress got down to business and did their job, because you are not and you haven't been for a long time. Don't blame President Obama, stop blaming George Bush, Bill Clinton, and back and back and back. It is you, the congress who makes the final decision. You represent the American public. You work for us and you are not doing your job.
You are all behaving like a bunch of bullies on the playground. I have 0 tolerance for bullies. Congress is not working for the betterment of our nation and all this partisan bickering needs to stop, now. The majority of those serving right now are playing head games and feeding propaganda to the American people. You are a bunch of self-serving liars. We are reading you like a book and it is looking like some third rate novel. You are not representing us and our needs and desire to keep America strong and get America back on its feet.
Where is your American pride? Put the politics and all your perks and special interest, all your philandering, all your personal little agendas aside and do your job. Get down to the business of truly setting America back on its feet to recovery. We are a very sick nation.
We don't need bigger government. We need more common sense in running the government we have. It is going to be a very long journey but every journey begins with the first step, even if it is a little one, one step at a time.
Cut the pork. All of it. We can't afford it anymore. No more funding all these extra special interest programs, no more special handout and tax breaks for big business or your special friends or allowing yourself to be bought for a vote. Stop playing Judas. It doesn't say much about you and the type of person you are, or maybe it says it all and we should have given more thought to how we voted. America is broke and broken. We can't afford all your little hee-haws and America is not for sale. Stop selling us out.
It is sad that it has come to this but it has and we need to face it. When you borrow money you become slave to the lender. If I ran my personal and household budget the way Congress has been running our National Budget I'd be a bag lady on the street or maybe in jail which is where some of you belong.
No more dipping your fingers into the till where they don't belong. No more special perks. You can't pay for something with money you haven't got. Leave Social Security alone. It is not an entitlement. That is our money we paid out of our hard earned paycheck, our retirement assurance and is in no way a government handout to a bunch of old folks who can no longer work. That money belongs to the American people who have worked their butts off to put it there. Do not tax Social Security. That is double taxation. You are breaking the law if you do that. We have already paid taxes on that money.
No raises for Congress, none, 0, zilch until you can show the American people you can and will actually do your job. You are going to lose some of your privileged benefits too, or you should. Like any good business if an employee isn't doing their job and doing it well they won't get a raise and you might just get fired. You don't give raises if you don't have the money to give them. Sorry guys, the money just isn't there. We are broke.
We are so deeply in debt we may never see daylight again and so all those fringe benefits, those little perks that are costing the American tax payer and arm and a leg every payday are going to come to a screeching halt and we aren't going to continue to pay you once you no longer work for us. You need to go get a job just like everyone else and should you be retiring, well; you need to try living on Social Security. You are no more wonderful or special than any other American.
Stop giving handouts to our enemies, using money we don't have. Of course we are going to help in a natural disaster but other countries need to start solving their own problems and not depend on the American people to solve all their problems for them. America first. We have enough problems of our own. You know and I know they just stab us in the back anyhow and no amount of money is going to change that. You just can't buy friends. Stop thinking you can.
If you give your lunch money to the bully on the playground you may get to go home without a bloody nose but you will be hungry and you have to do the same thing again the next day and the next and the next and the next. It doesn't work and won't solve the problem. The bully is still the bully. We need that money here at home. America is hungry. We need jobs.
Speaking of jobs. American companies who choose to take their business to foreign lands to build their business and hire foreign labor shall from here on out get NO tax breaks, no kickbacks, no bailouts. Keep your business here in America where it belongs and sell your products there. Americans will work if you give them the opportunity and pay them a living wage. Get your companies under control from the CEO down. Every job is important and every person deserves an equal opportunity whether you are the CEO or the late night custodian.
And while we are at it, clamp down on the Unions. I'm a union person, unions can be good but they have gone off the deep end. We need to tighten up. Their purpose is to make sure the company is not taking advantage of the employee. Their job is to keep things in balance not crush the company. Unions are there to garner compromise not put the company out of business and your union members out of work. We need to use some good old common sense here.
Gun control: The President is not so far out of the ballpark but there are a few problems with his agenda and we have a right to bear arms but it needs to be kept within reason. I agree that the common citizen does not need a military arsenal in his home. We have a right to bear arms. We need that right but we do not need weapons designed for use in war. Our military does.
What is more, if you try to ban weapons you will have the same problem that we had with alcohol during prohibition and with the drug problems we face today. Only the honest, law abiding citizen is going to get hurt when you take guns out of our hands. While you are thinking on this remember the Minuteman. Without him we would still be British subjects. Don't think it can't happen again. Those who will not learn from history are bound to repeat it.
Criminals, the mentally deranged, and our enemies will still get guns and we will still have tragedies. Newtown was horrid and heartbreaking but quit waving it like a banner. Let them rest in peace. For God's sake, think about it. There are hundreds of more people that die every day on American soil because of the misuse of guns than died at Newtown and it doesn't even make page three of the newspaper in most cases. Quit sensationalizing everything to promote your own agenda. Be very careful how you handle this and read the fine print. Do not open the door to martial law and dictatorship.
Go Green; Yes, we need to do something. Our environment is changing and not for the better but our planet has from the beginning gone through these cycles. This is no new thing. Global warming and cooling happens. We have no control over the seasons or the weather or the cycles of the Earth. What we do have control over is how we use what we have got before we lose it all.
We are and have been wasting our own resources and we could take better care and make wiser use of the bounty of our own land. This needs to begin with every American right at home. We are a wasteful people. We have become a lazy people and want everything convenient. For convenience sake we use products that harm us and our land and big business has convinced us that is okay and nothing will change for so long we believe our own lies. I don't know what the answer is here.
What I do know is that we need to form a united front instead of all these splintered special interest groups hooting and hollering for their own special cause and digging into our back pocket to get their own way. It is time we became good stewards of the resources God gave us or what we have left of them and while we are at it, bring back the Family Farm and give them a break. Just a few years ago America was feeding the world. Today we can't feed our own people and we are buying tainted food from our enemy. Do you see anything wrong with this picture? I do and it stinks.
Last November America spoke and we gave you another chance to get it right. Do it. Don't sell America out and remember, if it is good enough for the general public it goes for you too. You get Obamacare, you don't get a special insurance package. You don't get a special retirement fund. Put it into Social Security and you get to retire on that too. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.
I know what I have said here will not come close to balancing the budget or solving America's problems but it is a step in the right direction. We can cut back on all these special committees to investigate and promote special interest that we pay for out of our tax dollars. We can cut out a lot of red tape and all those extra perks you get just for going to Washington. We can cut back on the tax breaks we give to big business and the elite of our nation.
We can limit the time the free-loaders are allowed to collect government handouts and turn the handouts into a hand up.
There should be random drug testing and if you are getting a handout and using it to buy your illegal drugs you don't get a dime, no money, no food stamps, no free medical, no nothing. We will help you get off drugs, one time, it is a one shot deal but then you are on your own. We will help you train for a job but you have to get out there and earn your own living. We can't afford to support you. No more freebies. The world does not owe you a living just because you were born. We are being taxed to death here and it needs to be stopped. Our freedom and our rights come at a very high price and we all have to pay.
If you need housing then we will help you, give you a break to make it affordable but every American needs to be doing their part and we need regulations in place to be sure that is happening. Nobody gets a free ride; everybody needs to do their part.
Handing our SSI and SSD checks needs to be more closely monitored. If you are getting disability payments on our tax dollars and your disability is alcoholism or drug addiction; your checks are going to be very limited. We want to help you, we care. However we cannot afford to support your addiction. You have a maximum of three years to get off drugs, pull your life together and get a job. At the end of three years your checks stop. If in that three years it is discovered you are not making an effort to get well and you are abusing the system, still using drugs, your checks stop right then and there. Random screening and drug testing for everyone who is collecting SSI or SSD. We could save a lot of money if we didn't allow the Excusitis to exist. We are not going to pay for your drug habit.
Felons getting out of prison. Some of you learn and some of you don't or won't, but you did the crime, you served your time and it is time to put it all behind you and move onward and upward. We forgive you and we will give you a break, give you a chance to start over. We'll give you a hand up; help you with food, shelter, clothing and medical expenses for one year. We will even help train you for a job but all you have is one year. At the end of one year you are on your own. Assistance stops. You better get it together because you are only going to get one year on the outside on our tax dollar. While you are in prison you have already had the opportunity to get mental health help, get an education, learn a trade and we fed you and housed you and paid for your medical care and put clothes on your back. That is all you get. We can't afford to do more. America is broke.
To our congressmen; These are just a few suggestions and I could go on and on and on but I think you get the picture. Don't forget, you work for us and your boss is getting just a little more than a little upset with the way you are doing your job. Stop playing head games, stop slipping hidden agendas for special interest, pork, into places they don't belong just to line your pocket and get a vote. That doesn't cut it anymore and we know you are doing it. Get the picture?
America is not blind but it seems we have been asleep and for too long. America, wake up. United we stand but divided we fall and as a people we are presently so splintered and segmented it looks almost hopeless but it doesn't have to be that way. It is our choice; that is one of our freedoms, Freedom of choice. Use it to make America all it can be. This is our land. This is my land. This is your land. Don't sell America out and don't sell Americans short.
