North Hollywood – A passenger Edwin Chavez, 25, was pulled over on Laurel Canyon Boulevard just north of Saticoy Street and got out with a TEC-9 semiautomatic pistol and began shooting at the police officers who pulled the car over. Police officers fired three rounds at Chavez, hitting him in the shoulder. He was taken to the hospital where he was listed in stable condition. Police charged Chavez with assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer. Luckily none of the officers that pulled over the driver and Chavez was unharmed.

Los Angeles – Patrol officers who were driving in the area of Drew Street and Weldon Avenue became alerted when they heard semi-automatic gunfire. Police then pulled over on Weldon and saw three reputed gang members in a small black, four door vehicle. As the car passed the police car, shot were fired in the officers direction. Officers returned fire, the suspects however disappeared and have not been located as of today. The Robbery Homicide Division is investigating the alleged attempted murder of the police officers that had been shot at.

Granada Hills -William Campos,18, was shot and killed at a birthday party on June 8, 2007 on Haskill Avenue. The Los Angeles Police Department have taken a 16 year-old alleged gang member into custody with the shooting of Campos. Party goers who were at the party identified the unnamed suspect and he was arrested without incident June 15. Charges are expected to be filed against the teen. Campos was also an alleged gang member was transported to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center after the incident occurred, however he died from a single gun shot wound to his chest.

Los Angeles – A late night crash shut down the Santa Ana Freeway when a car who officers tried to stop for reckless driving, slammed into a tractor trailer killing it's passenger. The crash had the highway for more than four hours according to the California Highway Patrol. The driver of the car whose name was not immediately was arrested at the scene.

Los Angeles – Los Angeles Police who are currently retired may be called back to active duty for up to a year so that seasoned veteran officers can stick around long enough to help train rookie cops. The LAPD's Recall / Bounce program could go into affect as early as this year. Police Commission President John Mack said " The idea really is to make it possible for the department to have the benefit of expertise and experience of some individuals who have been with the department for a period of time…. and we're trying not to lose the benefit of that".

Los Angeles – Two people and an officer were injured when a tour bus broadsided a police patrol car in Chinatown. The officer had to be freed from his car by firefighters and it is possible that he suffered a spinal cord injury. No other information is available as of today. The two other people's conditions have not been released either.

Los Angeles – Detrick Ford, 20, was killed by police officers when he refused to drop an 8 inch butcher knife that he had been holding. The police who were called to the scene asked Ford to drop the knife and when he refused on of the officers fired 3 shots. None of the officers were hurt in the incident. The Force Investigation Division is investigating the incident.
